Andhra Student’s Pleasure Trip Turns Tragic After He Drowned in Canada’s Silver Falls
Vijayawada: A 23-year-old student hailing from Andhra Pradesh died after drowning in Silver Falls waterfall near Ontario in Canada.
The deceased was identified as Polukonda Lenin Naga Kumar, who lived in Thunder Bay in Ontario. Lenin and his three roommates went for a pleasure trip to Silver Falls on Tuesday. He along with another friend went for swimming downstream of the waterfall and drowned in the flowing water. According to reports, Lenin drowned in the water while his friends managed to come out of it safely.
After receiving the report of the Andhra student’s tragic death, Machilipatnam Lok Sabha member V Balashowry wrote a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs and requested for facilitating the return of student’s mortal remains to India.
Lenin, a native of Machilipatnam, had gone to Canada in August 2021. He had completed his MS from the University of Lakehead and was working part time at a restaurant while searching for a full time job.
