Aadudam Andhra event will be an annual affair: CM YS Jagan

Vijayawada: As the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) gears up to commence the first of its kind sporting extravaganza ‘Aadudam Andhra’, the chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that in future the mega sporting event will be held in December every year. 

‘Aadudam Andhra’ (Let’s play Andhra) is a state government initiative aimed at identifying the sport talent in the young sport enthusiasts. The programme will strive to find the potential sportspersons who will emerge as the future PV Sindhus, Srikanth Kidambis, Ambati Rayudus to emerge from Andhra Pradesh. 

To nurture sporting talent in youth and to promote this event across the state, the state government has roped in national academies and franchises like Chennai Super Kings, Prime Volleyball, Pro-Kabbadi to scout talent at the grassroots level and mentor them professionally. 

The biggest sporting event will be held at over 15,000 villages and ward secretariats, 680 mandals, 175 assembly constituencies and the state-level finals will be conducted at Visakhapatnam. 

The YS Jagan government has sanctioned 100 crore to organise the sports festival which is aimed at promoting physical fitness among youth in the state. The SAAP officials have identified nearly 9,600 sports grounds across the state to conduct the 'Aadudam Andhra' mega sports festival.
