YS Jagan Extends Helping Hand To Nayee Brahmin Community
Gudivada: Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh assembly and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that their party would have representation from Nayee Brahmin community in the state legislative assembly. Speaking at an interactive programme with Nayee Brahmin community organised here today as part of his walkathon Praja Sankalpa Yatra in Krishna district, YS Jagan said that once YSRCP comes to power, they would safeguard the rights of the Nayee Brahmin community.
Leaders from the Nayee Brahmin community met the YSRCP Chief and poured out their woes to the mass leader. YS Jagan further said that the community was a vital part of civilisation, but today were unfortunately were fighting for survival.
The YSRCP Chief said that the government was charging Rs 8-14 per unit for the electricity consumed by a saloon. He pointed out that this imposed a burden on those running them who were finding it difficult to pay minimum of Rs 4000 power charges every month.
YS Jagan promised the Nayee Brahmin community that once YSRCP comes to power the government would provide 250 units of free electricity to every saloon in the state. And another 500 units would be categorised under domestic tariff. "Every shop will be either given Rs 10,000 or 250 units of free electricity. Nayee Brahmin federation would be upgraded into a Corporation and loans would be provided to the needy," he asserted.
The AP Leader of Opposition appreciated the community’s contribution to temples. He promised to introduce identity cards for all those working in temples and also have their representation in temples' governing bodies. "Similarly, YSRCP will give prominence to the community. Nayee Brahmins, Vishwabrahmins, Kummarulu and Rajakulu communities are politically backward and we would like to have their representation in the state legislative assembly," he added.
