Vizianagaram: A newly-wed couple travelling on a bike were attacked by unknown assailants on Monday night, or so it was believed. However, fresh developments in the case gave a new twist to the case. According to details revealed by the police, Gourisankara Rao of Chitlapudivalasa village in Srikakulam district, got married to Saraswati from Kadekalla village in Veeraghatlam mandal of the same district on April 28. On Monday night, the newlyweds going on a bike, were attacked near Thotapalli in Gurugubilli mandal of Vizianagram district. While the husband died on the spot, his spouse escaped with grievious injuries.

Police investigation revealed that the attack on Gourisankara Rao was a pre-meditated one and had been masterminded by his wife. The reason behind the murder is stated to be her reluctance to marry him. The deadly attack was carried out by Saraswati's friend, Siva and a rowdy-sheeter from Vizag, Gopi, at her behest.

Police have registered a case and have arrested the suspects. SP Balaraju spotted the culprits on the Manapuram highway, got them arrested and began the investigation. Soon it came to light that Saraswati masterminded the attack which claimed her husband's life.
