Right After Dachepalli, Relative Rapes Minor In Guntur

Guntur: Even as people are trying to forget the nightmarish incident in Dachepalli in Guntur district, an equally horrific incident has been reported at Modukuru in the same district. On a day when the ruling TDP started its campaign called "Let Us Provide Security to Girls", this ghastly incident came to light.

According to police, a seven-year-old belonging to Modukuru in Guntur district was sexually assaulted by Nagul Meera (24) of the same village. Incidentally the accused is a  relative of the victim. It is learnt that the accused promised to buy the child chocolates and took her to a secluded place and sexually assaulted the young girl.

Her parents noticed that the girl was not her usual self when she returned. They took her to a hospital where the doctors told them that the child had been  raped. The parents immediately complained to the police. According to information provided by the victim, the police identified the accused and took him to custody. The police are investigating the incident and more details are awaited.

A similar incident a week ago in the same district raised furore across the country. A nine-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a 55-year-old Subbaiah. With the incident drawing nation-wide attention, Subbaiah committed suicide.
