Naxals, police exchange fire
After a prolonged lull in Andhra Pradesh, Naxalites of the outlawed Maoists exchanged fire with the police in the Lankachen dense forest area on the AP-Maharashtra border.
The encounter lasted for about two hours. According to reports reaching Hyderabad, no casualties were reported from either side. The police, however, recovered four weapons, reportedly belonging to the extremists.
It is almost a couple of years that any kind of crossfire between the Naxals and the police is reported from any corner of the State. Though some sporadic incidents were reported from the neighboring States, there, however, no casualties on either side. A detailed report on today’s of exchange of fire is awaited.
