Fire at HICC minutes before PM's arrival

A fire broke out at Bio-diversity summit in Hyderabad moments before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh scheduled to reach the place.

Tension prevailed at the venue as officials are on their feet to put out the flames. However, timely action by the police brought the rising fire under control. As a result of the fire mishap, conclaves going on at different places at the venue were brought to a halt and they were resumed soon after the flames were put out.

The reason for the fire mishap is being ascertained, sources said. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh  reached Hyderabad at around 3 pm today and he was taken by a special helicopter to the CoP-11 venue. He was accompanied by Governor ESL Narasimhan and Chief Minister N Kirankumar Reddy.
