Nawaz Sharif’s Daughter Summoned By JIT In Money Laundering Case

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz was on Tuesday summoned by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in connection with the Panama papers leak in Pakistan.
However, Maryam is presently in London to attend her son's graduation ceremony. She is expected to appear before the court on July 5.
The news about her being summoned was leaked to media by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Talal Chaudhary.
The court also summoned Nawaz Sharif's sons — Hassan and Hussain Nawaz to appear before it on July 3 and 4 respectively.
Hussain, elder son of Nawaz Sharif, had already appeared before the court for five times now.
The Panama papers, an unprecedented leak of 11.5 million files and documents belonging to client information, were leaked by a German newspaper on April 3 last year.
The documents revealed that the rich and influential personalities and public officials across the globe had invested large sums of money in the offshore businesses as a mode of money laundering.
