TN 2-Year-Old Stuck In Borewell, Rescue Operations Enters Day 3
Three days of rescue efforts have gone in to save boy who has been stuck in a borewell at Tamil Nadu's Tiruchirappalli district. The two-year-old boy had fallen into an abandoned borewell on Friday.
The boy had slipped into the borewell at 5:30pm in the evening had had made his way 30 feet down. Later he slipped even more and now is at 100 Feet.
Currently an ONGC Rig has been set up to dig the area next to the borewell and fire men are to make their way down to pull out the boy.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) had taken over the rescue operations on Saturday as all other efforts had failed.
In the beginning, Earth movers were deployed to the site to dig a pit around the borewell to reach the boy, but that had to stop midway as the terrain was rocky and breaking it could cause vibrations that would have pushed the boy further into the borewell pipe.
The rescue team had also tried a borewell robot but that proved unsuccessful as well.
