Of Litchis, Encephalitis, Brain Fever And Death Of Children in Bihar
One of the burning issues that has hit the nation is the death of children due to acute encephalitis syndrome in Muzaffarpur and adjoining districts in Bihar. The death toll in 'brain fever' or locally called 'Chamki Bhukar' has risen to 144 since its outbreak in Muzaffarpur more than two weeks ago.
Experts have established that the fever in Bihar is caused among malnourished children who ate litchis and went to sleep without a meal fell ill in the pre-Monsoon season. As Muzaffarpur is full of litchi orchards, locals there become vulnerable to the risk.
