PM Narendra Modi To Visit Tirumala Shrine On June 9

Tirupati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will offer prayers at Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple at Tirumala on June 9, as per official sources. The prime minister after visiting the Maldives and Sri Lanka this weekend will arrive at the Renigunta airport at 4.30pm , near Tirupati, from Colombo on Sunday evening.

Modi after offering prayers at the shrine, will immediately fly to New Delhi on the same day, the official said, adding that this was the prime minister's tentative schedule as per a communique.

Security arrangements are being made at the airport, the route leading to the shrine and on the Tirumala Hills for Modi's visit. The official said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and Governor ESL Narasimhan are expected to accompany Modi to the temple.

They would then leave for Tirumala at around 5pm and after a short 20-minute break at the guest house, would go for Varaha Swamy darshan at 6pm. The PM will also offer prayers at Srivari temple later. The PM will leave Tirumala at 7.20pm for Tirupati airport, from where he would fly back to Delhi.

This is Modi's maiden visit to the temple after becoming prime minister for the second time. Modi had last visited the shrine in his capacity as the prime ministerial candidate in May 2014 and as prime minister in October 2015 and January 2017, the official said.

Meanwhile Chief Secretary LV Subramanyam reviewed the arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Tirumala along with Distrcit collector Narayana Gupta and other officials yesterday.
