Lawyer Files Criminal Complaint Against Shehla Rashid For Defaming Indian Army - Sakshi Post

New Delhi: Lawyer Alok Srivastava filed a criminal case against former JNU student leader Shehla Rashid for making wild allegations against the Indian army and has called for her arrest. In her tweets Shehla had stated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir "are saying that J&K Police has no authority on law & order situation....have been rendered powerless. Everything is in the hands of paramilitary forces." In the tweet in question, she also said that "service revolvers can't be seen on them," meaning the state police.

In another tweet Shehla Rashid made serious allegations against the Indian army saying that "the armed forces are entering houses at night, picking up boys, ransacking houses, deliberately spilling rations on the floor, mixing oil with rice", and so on. In yet another tweet Shehla Rashid accused the Indian army of summoning 4 men in Shopian to the army camp and torturing them. She added in her tweet "that a mic was kept close to them so that the entire area could hear them scream and be terrorised. This created an environment of fear", her tweet read.

The Indian army issued a statement condemning these reports as baseless. The statement said that "allegations levelled by Shehla Rashid are baseless and rejected. Such unverified and fake news are spread by inimical elements and organisations to incite unsuspecting population."

Alok Srivastava has sought action against her under law and has called for her arrest for spreading baseless canards against the Indian government and army. Here are Shehla Rashid's controversial tweets:
