Poonam Sinha, wife of Shatrughan Sinha Joins Samajwadi Party

Patna: Actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha's wife Poonam Sinha on Tuesday joined Samajwadi Party (SP). Dimple Yadav, wife of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav welcomed her to the party.

Shatrughan, a two-time BJP lawmaker from Patna Sahib recently joined the Congress.

It is speculated that Poonam would be fielded against union minister Rajnath Singh from the Lucknow seat.

"Poonam Sinha Ji will be the SP-BSP-RLD candidate from Lucknow. She will file nomination on April 18. We appeal to the Congress that do not field your candidate from here so that BJP can be defeated,” senior SP leader Ravidas Mehrotra told news agency ANI.
