Narasimhan asks officials to focus on revenue collection
Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan on Saturday instructed officials of the state's Finance and Revenue departments to ensure prompt collection of revenue.
In his first major review after taking charge as the state's administrator under President's rule imposed over a week ago, he told officials of these departments to focus on revenue collections and recovery of arrears in time. Principal Secretary (Finance) Ajeya Kallam gave a presentation to the Governor on the state budget, receipts and expenditure for 2013-14.
Narasimhan agreed to exempt some important officials working in the revenue-earning departments from the ensuing election duties, a release from the Raj Bhavan said. Chief Secretary Prasanna Kumar Mohanty, Principal Secretary (Revenue) Sekhar Prasad Singh, Secretary (Finance) L Premachandra Reddy, Transport Commissioner Anantaramu and other senior officials attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Governor assured a delegation of Telangana Congress leaders that the Government would extend all possible help to farmers and other families affected by recent unseasonal rains. Narasimhan told the delegation, comprising former Ministers and MPs, that he has instructed officials concerned to complete enumeration of the damage so that adequate compensation is disbursed to the affected people.
