Name should be changed to 'Telugu Nadu' : Lagadapati
Former Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajgopal on Wednesday said that the name of residuary Andhra Pradesh must be changed as ‘Telugu Nadu’. He demanded a resolution by the new government for the same.
Speaking to reporters after casting his vote on Wednesday, he said, “If the state is to be developed in all fields, the state must get additional funds from the centre as the deficit of the residuary Andhra Pradesh budget may be as high as Rs.10,000 crores.”
He advised both the governments in Hyderabad to work with mutual cooperation.
“It would be better to establish the new capital at the earliest. Seemandhra employees are planning to move to the new state as early as possible,” said Lagadapati.
He clarified that he has no association with Jai Samaikyandhra Party of former chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy. “Jai Samaikyandhra is a movement. It has nothing to do with individuals or parties,” said former MP.
He said that he had no plans to enter the politics again in future.
He clarified that he was not conducting surveys keeping in mind his political future.
“I can say which party will come to power after the elections are completed. Awareness has been increased in the voters. The results of the municipal elections, which will be declared on May 12, will be close to that of assembly elections,” said Lagadapati.
