Mohanbabu gets relief in High court
Actor Mohan Babu got relief on Friday with the High Court staying the operations of the special committee constituted by the Government to study the objections raised by the Brahmin community against Manchu Vishnu’s latest movie ‘Denikayina Ready’.
A single bench headed by Justice K Chandrabanu clarified that the film content will remain status quo.The court also asserted that once the movie was passed and certified by the censor board, the government had no right to set up another review committee.
The government had constituted the committee under the GO of 2056. Challenging the Government’s involvement, Mohan Babu filed a petition in the High Court. The court on Friday stayed that GO.
The court also stayed the operation of the committee constituted by the government to study the film 'A woman in Brahmanism'.
The government recently appointed a special committee to intervene in the ongoing controversy and tussel between Mohan Babu and Brahmin associations over some alleged objectionable scenes depicting the Brahmin community in derogatory manner . After watching the film, the committee found 20 objectionable scenes in the film. However, Mohan Babu disagreed with the report and filed a petition in the High Court.
Even the committee appointed by the government to review the controversial film 'A Woman in Brahmanism' has recommended a total ban on it on the grounds of obscenity. The producer of this film too approached the court questioning the authority of the government to appoint such a committee.
