Mohan Babu, Brahmanandam approach SC over Padma Shri titles - Sakshi Post

Tollywood actors Mohan Babu and Brahmanandam approached Supreme Court on the ruling of High Court which directed the duo to return their Padma Shri Awards, after it came to light that the actors were misusing the titles.

The actors filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme court challenging HC's orders stating that they have never intentionally misused the awards conferred on them by the Government of India.

Reportedly, they have mentioned in the petition that they asked the producers of 'Denikina Ready' to delete prefixes from the titles the day it came to the court's notice.

Mohan Babu and Brahmanandam were awarded the title in 2007 and 2009, respectively. The controversy erupted when the recipients carried the title of 'Padma Shri' as prefix in the credits of the controversial film 'Denikina Ready'.

Alleging that both the senior actor and comedian used 'Padma Shri' in the titles of the film, BJP senior leader N Indraseena Reddy urged the court to take back their awards for violating the Supreme Court judgement.
