Modes of Transport to Medaram Undergoes 'Air' Change - Sakshi Post

Warangal: The modes of transport to the largest tribal fair in India has undergone a sea change over the decades with the latest being a helicopter ride from Hyderabad and also from Warangal town.

Only about two decades ago, tribals from different parts of the country converged at Medaram riding on bullock carts. They used to plan and start from their respective villages days in advance only to ensure to they reach Medaram on time for the three-day festivities.
Overtime, successive government started improving the infrastructure facilities enroute that brought better roads and RTC buses to the sleepy hamlet. Now private cars, seven-seater auto rickshaws, tractors, mini vans and luxury buses are the norm. The latest addition to the modes of transport is the helicopter.
The state government has introduced helicopter service to Medaram. Though it was introduced on Thursday, bookings for the service began on Friday with two trips from Warangal. The Tourism Department has stated that about three more helicopter trips have also been booked for Saturday to the Medaram Jatara.
