Mild protests mark Valentine’s Day in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Mild protests marked the Valentine’s Day celebrations in Hyderabad on Sunday. Bhajarang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists staged protest demonstrations against observing the day at several places in the city. However, police took the protesters into custody.
Bhajarang Dal activists held agitations across the city against the lovers' day dubbing it as the western culture. They burnt the effigies of Valentine and lovers' day greeting cards at Kothi, Abids and YMCA circles.
In view of the past incidents on Valentine's Day, police have taken precautionary steps and deployed extra forces in the areas of parks, crowded areas and the places where lovers stroll in the city.
