In the light of American film producer Harvey Weinstein's sexual harassment scandal, women around the world have come out in the open to express their solidarity with the victims that have been subject to similar abuse.

Wondering what I am talking about? Well, for starters if you are a social media buff, forget Twitter if you have even recently stumbled upon any facebook posts it's impossible to have missed the #metoo. Most women have such horror tales to recount. Groped by an uncle? Boss misbehaved with you? Teacher's innocent pat on the back which put you at discomfort? Kissed by your brother's friend? All these sound familiar? The horror of it all is that these are people you trust and at times hard to tell if they are being nice or your passive submission is being taken advantage of.

Most status messages of women across the globe are tagged with the hashtag 'metoo' with their own tales of harassment. While a few women expressed their support, a few others openly admitted to having gone through the ordeal themselves. One positive thing that emerged out of this entire campaign was tweets and messages from men, a few of whom promised to behave themselves while many others apologized for their misdeeds.

Stories of sexual harassment are now commonplace. And so common that it became a hotly debated trending topic across the world on all the social media platforms-Facebook, Twitter and Instagram within a matter of minutes. All it took was a simple tweet by Alyssa Milano who wrote: If you’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted write ‘me too’ as a reply to this tweet.

...and boy, did she create a revolution? The viral movement has the backing of even celebrities like Evan Rachel Wood and Lady Gaga. The objective is simple, as the lyrics of Michael Jackson's celebrated song Heal the world goes, "Make World A Better Place for you and for me and the entire human race."
