MET Forecasts Heavy Rains for Telangana in 3 More Days
Hyderabad: The India Meteorology Department (IMD) forecasts heavy to very heavy rains on September 21, 22 and 23 in Hyderabad and other districts in Telangana. The continuous heavy rains have disrupted civic amenities in the twin cities. The latest forecast is more grim. The Chief Minister K Chandrashekhara Rao has directed officials to take remedial measures in view of heavy rain forecast. KCR has alerted the Health Department to ensure that no spread of contagious diseases during the monsoon season.
The Chief Minister is in National Capital to attend Apex Council meeting on sharing Krishna and Godavari with Andhra Pradesh. The GHMC officials alerted people to be cautious particularly those live in low-lying areas.
According to a latest report, the MET forecasts heavy rains in Rayalaseema for next two days and one day in AP. The Hyderabad MET Department has given an alert to people and the state governments in next three days. Heavy rains likely to continue in Hyderabad, Warangal and isolated areas in all districts in Telangana.
The upper air cyclonic circulation over westcentral and northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh continues to persist and is resulting in heavy rains, according to the MET Department.
The upper air cyclonic circulation is now spreading upto mid- tropospheric levels tilting southwards with height persists, said MET Department, which in a statement said that 218 areas in Telangana received average rain fall of 6cm from Monday till Wednesday.
