Forget Potholes, Now Beware Of Rain-fed ‘Sink Holes’

Large sink hole that appeared overnight on Necklace Road - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The incessant rainfall that does not show any signs of abating has been causing untold misery to the citizens of Hyderabad. While inundated streets, pot holes and open manholes make driving on the city roads a nightmare, ‘sink holes’ are beginning to appear at various places with the land beneath the streets caving in.

One such ‘sink hole’ had begun to appear on the busy Necklace Road street, right in front of popular NTR Gardens on Tuesday night. The authorities who arrived on the scene on Wednesday cordoned off traffic on the busy road and began to cautiously excavate the hole.

As can be seen in the images, there is an impending danger if the wet weather continues, especially since the road is just adjacent to Hussain Sagar, which has been swelling ominously with rain water.

Authorities advice the public to exercise caution while driving and avoid low lying and inundated areas.
