MANUU Student Evicted From Hostel For Demanding Extra Pooris

Hyderabad: Nafis Akhtar, a BA second year student at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has been evicted from the hostel for demanding two more pieces of poori on Tuesday.

Akhtar had an argument with mess in-charge Shamsuddin, reportedly after he asked for two extra pooris after the closing time of breakfast. “I would have eaten the pooris as they’ll be thrown away. Shamsuddin told me to put the pooris back. After that he grabbed my collar and to my defense I also retaliated,” Akhtar said.

Meanwhile, provost Ehtesham Ahmad Khan has issued show casue notice that he has been suspended from hostel and asked him to vacate.

“I was not given a chance to defend myself. The provost did not hear my version,” said Akhtar.

Meanwhile, many students protested against the administration and carried banners demanding revocation of the show cause notice.

Asked on the issue vice chancellor M Aslam Parvaiz said, “The investigation is going on and Akhtar will be given opportunity to present his case. Students allotted hostels have themselves signed an undertaking that they will not indulge in violence. We cannot tolerate this kind of behavior.”
