PM to YSRCP: This situation wouldn't have arisen if YSR were alive
This situation would not have arisen if YSR were alive, said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to the YSRCP delegation on Tuesday.
YSRCP MPs, MLAs and MLCs led by the party honorary president YS Vijayamma met Singh and President Pranabh Mukharjee to brief them of the developments in the state in wake of the Congress decision to bifurcate the State and sought their intervention to provide equal justice to both the regions.
Speaking to the media post meeting, Vijayamma said that they have asked the PM to look into the issues that arise after the division of state.
She said that she explained to him her party's stand and also asked him to maintain status quo in the state if justice cannot be served to all regions. "We requested the PM to do equal justice to both regions," she said.
"Responding to our requests, PM assured that Centre will constitute a committee to look into all issues".
The YSRCP also presented a four-page memorandum to the PM during the meeting.
"We have mentioned vital issues like sharing of river waters, safety of employees and investors, capital city, sharing of revenue and others on many occasions, as we are the voice of the people and what we are expressing is the sentiment of the multitude of people," party senior leader Konathala Ramakrishna told reporters.
