Man Held For Posing As Secretary Of PM Narendra Modi’s Brother
Hyderabad: A man was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly tried to seek favors from some Central government officials by claiming himself as the secretary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's brother Prahlad Modi.
According to police, Venkat Prasad runs an advertising agency at Abids in the city. Prasad had met Prahlad Modi when he had visited Delhi some time back. Then he started claiming himself as a secretary to Prahlad Modi and made calls to few senior bureaucrats in Delhi seeking favors, and also fixed appointments with some other officers.
Prasad's cover was blown after an official raised suspicion and alerted the police.
The police official said that Prasad had put his name as the "secretary PMO Modi" on the Truecaller app and whenever he used to make calls to officials his name would get displayed as "Secretary PMO Modi".
A case of cheating and extortion under relevant sections of IPC was registered against the accused. Further probe is on.
