Kodela, the fifth Assembly Speaker from Guntur district - Sakshi Post

Kodela Sivaprasada Rao is the fifth Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, who hails for Guntur district. He took charge as the Speaker on Friday.

Before him, four leaders from Guntur district have occupied the coveted post.

The first one to occupy the post from the district was Nallapati Venkatramaiah, who was in the post from 1953 to 1955. He represented Narasaraopet constituency in Guntur district.

Kona Prabhakara Rao was in the post for seven months in 1981. He represented Bapatla constituency. Later, Nissankararao Venkatratnam was in the post from 1984 to 1985.

The outgoing Speaker Nadendla Manohar held the post from 2011 to 2014. He is also the last Speaker of the undivided Andhra Pradesh. He was the speaker from Guntur, who was in the post for the longest duration.

Kodela thus became the fifth leader from Guntur district to occupy the post of Speaker.
