Kiran Kumar cornered on all sides
Chief Minister, Kiran Kumar Reddy is being cornered on all sides. His cabinet colleagues are reported to have expressed their strong resentment at the manner in which the power crisis in the state was being handled making the Congress highly unpopular in all sections of society across the state, notably farmers.
This act of defiance itself is unprecedented and shows how inexperienced the CM is and the authority and respect he commands. No other Chief Minister was ever treated in this manner by his cabinet colleagues. On another front, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president and Transport Minister Botsa Satyanarayana is leading the charge against the CM even while he claims to be on his side. Botsa along with a group of Congress leaders continues to snap at the heels of the beleaguered Chief Minister. The APCC chief seems to be sparing no effort to ensure that Kiran Kumar Reddy's name is tarnished. The fortunes of the Congress Party seem to be the last thing on the minds of senior congress men.
Botsa is being actively supported in his efforts to unseat the Chief Minister by senior ministers including D L Ravindra Reddy, P Viswaroop and C Ramachandraiah among others.
The Congress high command is doing everything it can to prop up the CM, but his own seniors in the party treat him as a relatively inexperienced colleague. In spite of the high command repeated statements that it would not consider changing the chief minister as of now, his detractors have been sniping at him constantly giving him little time to concentrate on governance.
The displeasure of his cabinet colleagues came out into the open on the issue of sand mafia which is controlling thousands of crores worth sand
that is being sold in the black market. The cabinet meeting which took place after three months was a stormy one with ministers showing their anger on the power crisis and other issues openly. It looks as though the embattled CM is moving from one major crisis to another.
