In big jolt to the TDP government and the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Monday delivered a sensational judgment in the Sadavarthi Satram lands auction case.

It may be recalled here that the Andhra Pradesh Government had alienated 84 acres of Satram lands in Chennai at a throwaway price of Rs 22 crore to some big shots through auction. The lands were actually donated to the government by Sadavarthi Raja Vasi Reddy to provide financial assistance to poor Brahmins. YSRCP MLA Alla Rama Krishna Reddy challenged the government's decision in the AP High Court.

The Court in its final judgment offered the land to the petitioner if he was prepared to pay an additional amount of Rs 5 crores above the auctioned amount of Rs 22 crores. Petitioner Alla Rama Krishna Reddy gladly accepted the offer and the court directed him to pay Rs 10 crores in two weeks time and the remaining amount in about four weeks time. Rama Krishna Reddy welcomed the court orders.

It may be further mentioned here that earlier Sakshi daily in an investigative story revealed that the government had alienated 83.11 acres of Satram lands in Chennai to the proxies of the ruling TDP leaders at a throwaway price of Rs 22.44 crore. The Market value of the land, according to a Sakshi daily report , is around Rs.1200 crore.

The government and the ruling party's reaction on High Court judgment is awaited. For Naidu, it is an embarrassing situation. He cannot reject it, as it is the High Court order. At the same time, he cannot forego such a precious piece of land!
