The Congress leaders were arrested at Ontimamidi in Mulugu mandal, Medak, and have been shifted to RC Puram Police Station.

Medak: The Police on Friday morning arrested Congress party leaders Jana Reddy and Shabbir Ali, who were on the way to Mallanna Sagar project site to stage protests against land acquisition and compensation modality.

Jana Reddy and Shabbir Ali on Friday morning started off Gandhi Bhavan as part of ‘Chalo Mallanna Sager’ programme taken up by Congress party. The Congress leaders were arrested at Ontimamidi in Mulugu mandal, Medak, and have been shifted to RC Puram Police Station.

About 16 villages are submerging due to the Mallanna sagar project. Congress party demands for compensation in addition to providing land and residential facility at some other place. Jana Reddy and Shabbir Ali along with party cadre were on the way to console the land oustees under the Mallanna sagar project.
