IT Boom In Making? Tech Giants Line Up Before Colleges For Fresh Talent

The trend of tech firms queueing up before prestigious educational institutions has apparently raised a question — Is this the start of IT boom era?

With a view to hunt for young talents, IT companies are indulging in bulk hiring. Tech giant Intel has recruited as many as 59 students from IIT Kanpur which includes two profiles — hardware and software, computer science graduates for coding and electrical engineering students for hardware openings.

According to placement heads, the companies which had plans to pick fewer students, ended up recruiting more in number.

At IIT Bombay, Samsung hired as many as 30 students from the campus placements while it offered 15 pre placement offers to students. Samsung will place the newly-recruited students at various locations — Korea, Noida, Delhi and Bangalore offices. Last year, the company hired 22 while this year the number has gone up.

At IIT Kharagpur, placements have increased to 25 percent compared to last year. Companies offered better pay to students, said a placements in-charge.
