Is Rahul scared of YSRCP's popularity?
Looks like the popularity of YS Jagan's YSRCP has made the Congress jittery. In what can be termed as the first indicator of the same, sources in the Congress party say that the AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi is scared of the YSR Congress party.
He reportedly asked Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy today if there was a threat from the YSRCP to Congress in the 2014 elections. The CM categorically replied saying there was no threat. The Congress party High Command was also inquired about YSR Congress party chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy's sister Sharmila 'Maro Praja Prastanam padayatra' from Kiran Kumar Reddy.
The CM is in Delhi to meet the Congress High command. He first met Ghulam Nabi Azad, the AICC general secretary and in-charge of state party affairs. It is said that Kiran Kumar briefed Azad about the way he tackled Telangana march in Hyderabad last month. He also discussed about filling up of vacant corporation posts and cabinet expansion in the state.
After meeting Azad, he also met the AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi. It is learned that he tried to impress Rahul Gandhi by saying that he was looking forward to seeing him in the Union Cabinet soon.
On his Delhi tour, the chief minister is expected to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Union Cabinet ministers AK Antony and Chidambaram.
