Mumbai: Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan has been termed as the 'King of the Khans’ by industry analysts with the worldwide success of Dangal.

Several film critics shared the same opinion as Salman Khan's Tubelight tanked at the box-office and Shah Rukh Khan failed to deliver any hits in the last four years. A trade analyst Ramesh Bala says, "The Khans used to be on par but Aamir has moved ahead and Shah Rukh is kind of lagging behind recently."

Dangal was released last year in December and went on to bag unprecedented collections worldwide. It scripted history by becoming the first Indian film to enter the Rs. 2,000 crore club worldwide.

Film traders assert that Dangal striked a chord with the audience and carried a strong message. A film distributor Akshaye Rathi says that Aamir is selective about scripts and only picks up those that are relevant to the Indian audience.

“As a star he doesn’t enjoy so much of a fan following as he enjoys the trust of the audience for his craft. People believe at the back of their minds that if Aamir appears in a film there will be something, different, something novel in it,” Rathi added.
