India safest for Muslims: Sakshi Maharaj

Meerut: BJP leader and Unnao MP Sakshi Maharaj on Wednesday said if Muslims are safe anywhere in the world it is in India. He also claimed that Muslim population was the biggest beneficiary of the programmes launched by the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre.

Speaking to media persons at the 3rd 'Sant Samagam' organized by Mahant Mahender Das ji Maharaj of Shani Dham temple in Meerut , Sakshi Maharaj touched upon almost every controversy that raised political tempers in the recent past.

During his address Maharaj praised Modi saying the Opposition was scared by the programmes and policies implemented by him, so, in Parliament, whenever, he tries to speak about development of the country, they create disruptions. On Indo-Pak talks, he said If the PM talks to Pakistan they (the Opposition) have a problem and if he doesn't, then they have a problem too.

Attacking the opposition leaders the BJP MP said that Mulayam Singh Yadav, Nitish Kumar, Mamata Banerjee and (Arvind) Kejriwal are a danger to the nation. On cow slaughter, he said the BJP-ruled state is making strict laws against the practice.

Slamming the critics for accusing the BJP government of being intolerant, he said, after Bihar Assembly elections these people have gone in silence. "We who wear saffron are religious leaders but we are labelled as saffron terrorists. We talk about world peace but a few dogs say we are intolerant. Let me ask where have those dogs disappeared soon after the Bihar elections got over?” Maharaj said.

He also claimed that one lakh Muslims from MP have favoured construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya and also put their signature to it. If people of the country want Ram Mandir to be built at Ayodhya then what is the controversy, he said.
