In The Name Of Witchcraft, Couple Burnt To Death By Kin

Barbaric twin murders by own brothers in Dubbaka village in Siddipet, about 110km from Hyderabad - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: A 60-year-old man and his wife were burnt to death by two brothers of the victim blaming them of witchcraft in Dubbaka village in Siddipet district on Thursday.

Accused Srinivas and Mallesh, the younger brothers of the deceased Sudarshan, have been arrested for the brutal twin murder. The accused had been targeting the victims' family for some time over a property dispute and they gathered the support of the locals to brand the couple of practitioners of witchcraft.

On Thursday evening, the accused entered the brother's house and poured kerosene on Sudarshan and his wife Rajeshwari and set them afire despite a strong resistence by the victims' daughter and son. The couple suffered over 90 percent burn injuries and they died in a hospital while undergoing treatment.

The victims' daughter Rekha and son Sridhar also sustained injuries in the scuffle. They said their uncles brutally murdered their parents with the support of some locals. Not a single person came to their rescue though the incident happened in full public view.

The village is hardly 100km from Hyderabad and falls in Siddipet constituency represented by Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao.
