Hyderabadi guy &ISIS Lure: Operation Chakravyuh got him
It was the Operation Chakravyuh of the intel bodies that is responsible for the arrest of engineer Salman Mohiudeen while he was leaving India to join dreaded ISIS group.
Operation Chakravyuh is a special operation mounted by the intel agencies to keep a tab on suspected youth with terror leanings. Studying their social media uploads, the people they meet and the messages they send, the intel officials keep a watch on the suspects, but do not immediately arrest them. They are usually arrested only when they try to the leave the country.
Salman is highly educated, studied in the US and comes from a financially well-off family. He was denied a visa to stay in the US and was asked to return to India. Ever since, both the US and the Indian intel bodies kept a watch on him. He returned to India in October last year.
Interestingly, he showed no signs of radicalisation. But his chat transcript which were tracked since November last year by the Intelligence Bureau created a doubt among the agencies. All through he was looking up sites pertaining to the ISIS and was trying to get in touch with their recruiters. Sources also said that both Salman and his wife Ayesha were equally interested to join ISIS.
They were arrested only after they tried to flee India. Currently there are 140 such youth who are under the radar. Each one of them has been making plans to travel to either Iraq or Syria and join the ISIS.
