Anil Kumar, Additional Commissioner, Hyderabad - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: In a bid to improve adherence to traffic rules, the traffic cops here started giving coupons for those who follow traffic rules.

In an awareness campaign on Tuesday, around 100 lucky persons found wearing helmets were awarded gift coupons by Anil Kumar, Additional Commissioner (Traffic), Hyderabad City, and administrators of Sri Ram Insurance Company.

According to police, the coupons worth Rs 200 could be redeemed at any cinema theatre for a movie ticket and it can also be exchanged at eateries.

“Motorists are being presented complimentary coupons and helmets for following traffic rules. It is more of an awareness campaign being taken up with help of corporate companies and NGOs actively engaged in traffic awareness,” Anil Kumar said to a daily.

"Private firms are coming forward as part of their corporate social responsibility,” he added.

Many such campaigns for awareness are being carried out the junctions across the city to motivate motorists to follow traffic rules for their safety. A few weeks ago, it was reported that, City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar presented roses to motorists along with movie tickets.

A campaign and a walk was organised on Tuesday by Hyderabad Traffic Police to drive home a message of road safety.

“Most of the deaths are caused by head injuries sustained after falling off two-wheeler. Across the State, around 7,000 accidents take place ever year and a few thousand two-wheeler riders die every year", Anil Kumar said to the daily, speaking about the accidents in and around the city.
