E-Autos, A Boon To GHMC
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation in association with Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI) had introduced e-autos in March this year. The municipal corporation had launched a total of nine e-autos and the main aim was the clearance of the waste from the commercial areas of the city apart from ensuring lowering vehicular emissions.
They are mainly being used in clearing the garbage from the bins on the roadside across the city. Apart from all this, the vehicles can also be operated in the narrow lanes of the Hyderabad. These vehicles are used for the garbage collection in short intervals, especially during festivals and other occasions.
The vehicle can be charged for two hours and operates for over 80 kms. Besides aiding in curbing pollution levels, the maintenance cost of the vehicle is very minimal. It also has the carrying capacity of about 500 kilograms. The Above pros prove how beneficial these vehicles are.
The GHMC has been working towards launching more number of e-autos across the city. The municipal corporation has already drawn plans to replace its fleet of conventional diesel-operated auto-rickshaws with e-autos in a phased manner or introduce as many as possible.
