Hyderabad Traffic Police Records 1,304 Drunk Driving Cases In August
Drunken driving cases have been increasing at an alarming level in Hyderabad due to pub culture and modern living habits. As the number of cases have been more on weekends, the traffic police in the city have increased routine checks of Drunk and Drive during the weekends. In the month of August, the Hyderabad traffic police registered a total of 1,304 cases as a part of drunk and drive checkings held in various parts of the city in the month of August. All violators were produced in the Nampally Metropolitan Magistrate Courts. Out of which 216 persons were given jail sentences, the court has permanently canceled the driving license of three persons and 56 licensed got suspended temporarily depending upon the extent of alcoholic percentage during their check. The court Imposed Rs 28,84,800 as a fine for violating the traffic rules.
Speaking to Media, Additional Commissioner of Traffic Police Anil Kumar says that all the traffic violators were counseled at the Goshamahal and Begumpet and Traffic Training Institutes.
