Girl Jumps Into Hussain Sagar, Rescued

Hyderabad: A software engineer and a naval personnel rescued a 20-year-old girl who jumped into Hussain Lake depressed over poor marks in SSC. Though the incident happened on Sunday, it came to light only on Wednesday after the police expressed its appreciation for the techie who saved the girl on time.

It is reported that the girl who is pursuing her graduation was depressed over SSC marks for some time and is undergoing treatment for depression. "She was a topper but did not manage to score good marks," a police officer said.

Driven by depression, she jumped into the lake around 11.30 am on Sunday. Onlookers who saw the girl drowning alerted the people and a techie Vishnukanth Reddy and other navy personnel Subba Reddy jumped into Hussain Sagar and rescued the girl. She was then shifted to Gandhi Hospital and is undergoing treatment. When she came to consciousness, the girl confessed to have consumed sleeping pills before jumping into the lake.

"I first hesitated to rescue the girl but then decided to save her," techie Vishnukanth said. The girl's family and the police expressed their appreciation to him for saving the girl's life.
