BJP Intensifies Protest, Police Arrest Leaders

Hyderabad: As part of their protest against the Telangana government demanding the elimination of ban orders on Swami Paripoornanda from the city for six months, the BJP leaders planned to take out a rally today. Even as the party MLA Kishan Reddy and MLC Ramachandra Rao were getting to ready to join the rally, the police arrested the BJP leaders mid-way.

The BJP had intensified its protest against the state and as part of the protest, BJP MLAs had called for Chalo Pragati Bhavan today and they had decided to submit a memorandum to Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The party leaders had decided to take out a rally to Pragati Bhavan, but the police foiled their plans arresting several leaders.

MLC Ramachandra Rao was placed under house arrest, while Kishan Reddy was held near Police Commissioner's office at Basheerbagh. Similarly, State BJP president Dr K Laxman was arrested at MLA Quarters and was sent to Ramgopalpet police station. Khairatabad MLA Chintala Ramachadra Reddy and Baddam Bal Reddy were arrested by the police near assembly gate and was shifted to Bolarum police station. Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh was placed under house arrest by the police.

The police successfully foiled the plans of BJP and quickly arrested the party leaders to stop them proceeding in a rally to Pragati Bhavan.
