Hyderabad Teachers MLC Polling Cancelled, Re-Polling On March 19

The Election Commission has cancelled the polling for the Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahabub Nagar Teachers Constituency MLC post in view of the goof-up over the photograph of independent candidate in the fray. The re-polling would be held on March 19.

The goof-up was noticed immediately after the polling began at 8 am on Thursday. In the place of Independent candidate Papannagari Manik Reddy, the photograph of another independent candidate Aadhi Laxmaiah was printed.

Though the EC officials did not stop the polling process, state Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal indicated that the polling could be cancelled

The state Chief Electoral Officer had said a report will be sent to the Chief Election Commission at New Delhi and a final decision will be taken by it after due investigation.

It may recalled that the election was cancelled for similar goof-up in the MLC election for Kanpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh in February this year.
