Hospital promises to make him 3 inches taller for Rs. 7 lakh
Hyderabad: A youngster paid a large sum of money and checked himself into a popular corporate hospital in the city and signed up to a medical procedure, with dreams of walking out of there three inches taller than he is. The medical procedure involved a major surgery, that lasted for 7 hours, and was performed without the knowledge of the victim's family.
5' 7'' is an enviable height for tens of thousands of youngsters from the city. Nikhil Reddy (22) however was not satisfied with it. Convinced that the doctors could drag three more inches out of him, he agreed to an orthopedic surgery that would cost him Rs. 7 lakhs.
In his determination to add inches to his body Nikhil did not want anyone objecting his plan. So he paid Rs. 4 lakh to the hospital upfront, switched off his cell phone and got onto the operating table without letting anyone in his family about it.
Panicked that their son was not traceable for three days, Nikhil's parents approached the police. The police registered a missing persons case and began to investigate. They were soon able to trace Nikhil's cell phone signal to Global Hospitals. When the police reached there, they were informed that Neeraj had recently been operated on. His parents were astonished to see him lying there in an unconscious state with several spokes planted in his legs
Nikhil's parents were aggravated about the hospital performing the operation without informing the family. The doctors are however trying to defend themselves by the fact that Nikhil is a major and therefore they did not require anyone's permission.
Nikhil's parents are now getting ready to take the hospital to court.
