Hyderabad: After banning huge hoardings in city for three months Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) withdrew its decision, but now decided to allow advertising agencies to put up hoardings with their responsibility for any untoward incidents.

GHMC has allowed ground hoardings and wall mounted up to 40x25 feet while it has permitted hoardings on rooftops up to 30x25 feet to be placed only on two-storied building

Ad agencies will be made liable for any damage of property or to people due to hoardings. Based on the recommendations of NV Ramana Rao committee the decision was taken on Monday.

“If any accident or damage happens they would be held responsible for civil and criminal liability,” said an official.

GHMC has allowed ground hoardings and wall mounted up to 40x25 feet while it has permitted hoardings on rooftops up to 30x25 feet to be placed only on two-storied building.

GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy said that hoardings will be put up after assessing and a certification given by JNTU.
