KCR’s inaugural speech at the TRS plenary

The ruling party has made elaborate arrangements for its plenary session, which is the first after formation of Telangana state.

After his reelection as the TRS president for the eighth time, KCR addressed milling crowds at the party’s plenary heldon Friday at Lal Bahadur Stadium.

Here are the highlights:

• I thought I would be relieved from presidentship. But, I have been thrust the responsibility once again. We need to achieve Golden Telangana
• The role of TRS workers is exemplary. It is because of the workers that we could achieve Telangana. I started as one man. Several friends joined me. Now the whole of Telangana joined me. Despite provocations and allegations, we did not rest till we achieved Telangana state.
• There were others who tried to outpace us, but fell by wayside. They tried to create a drama but could not sustain the tempo for long.
• We are taking suggestions from one and all. We are accepting good suggestions from everyone.
• There were occasions when chips were down and my morale was down. But, leaders like Nayini Narsimha Reddy instilled confidence in me. There were several workers, who inspired me and motivated me. This is because everyone joined me and everyone walked along with me.
• I shall take every care of the families of the martyrs who laid their lives for the cause of Telangana.
• We have chosen symbols of Telangana culture as our state animals, birds and we gave state festival status to Telagnana festivals like Bathukamma. We named several institutions after great sons of Telangana, including PV Narasimha Rao, Kaloji and Prof Jayasankar.
• We will soon develop Telangana Kala Bharathi in 14 acres near the Indira Park. We are developing Yadagirigutta. We will develop pilgrimage centres along Godavari for this Pushkarams. I had taken a dip in the holy Godavari at Dharmapuri and prayed to Lord Narasimha that I shall offer special prayers at Dharmapuri and offer golden bangle to mother Godavari. We are taking every step to revive the culture of Telangana.
• We will work for the betterment of the BCs, SCs, STs and Minorities. In fact Telangana is a state of weaker sections. We are according top priority to their welfare.
• We have waived loans of Rs 1 lakh to 34 lakh farmers. We had spent Rs 17000 crores for the crop loan waiver. We have also cleared all the input subsidy arrears to a tune of Rs 11000 crore.
• The Congress is bent only on criticizing me. They are criticizing me for aerial survey. They are criticizing my padayatras to. They are worried as the ground is slipping from under their feet. Congress has never cared for the poor people of the country. We have raised the pensions to the poor and the uncared. We have given welfare pensions to over 16 lakh people.
• Congress and TDP had ruled the state for the past 50 years. But, they had never thought of the plight of the beedi workers. We are giving Rs 1000 to over 3.70 beedi workers. We have asked the landed class to sell their lands to the government so that they could be distributed among the poor landless. The response has been encouraging.
• We always worry about the poor people. We had given fine rice to the hostel students. Time was when Anganwadi workers were cane-charged. We have invited the anganwadi workers to the secretariat and have given them a pay raise from Rs 2400 to Rs 4500. We are bearing an additional burden of Rs 7400 crore to give nutritious food to the children who come to the anganwadis. We gave 43 per cent fitment to government employees.

• We are going to launch works on 6600 megawatt power generation capacity Damaracharla power project. We are supplying uninterrupted power supply to farm sector and are asking the industrialists to set up industries saying we shall supply adequate power to them. We are also providing power to the households.
• Mission Kakatiya will be a great game changer. It will provide water to the parched Telangana lands.

• We gave the best industrial policy to the state of Telangana. It would be unveiled next month.

• We are yet to act upon some of the promises made during the elections. We are yet to act upon the KG to PG education and the provision of the jobs to the unemployed youths. We shall keep every word that we gave. We shall soon hold a meeting of the DWCRA women.
• We shall raise the loan limit to DWCRA women from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh.
• KCR recalls the song that he wrote during the agitation and reaffirmed his resolve to achieve Golden Telangana.
• The party workers contribution in enrolling 50 lakh new members can never be forgotten. The new members had paid Rs 10 lakh towards membership fee. We have also paid Rs 4.5 crore for the insurance for all our workers. We have made a fixed deposit of Rs 9 crore for providing insurance to party workers. 50 lakh party workers would be provided insurance cover. We shall give nominated posts soon to the party workers.
• KCR goes down the memory line and tells that the party has traveled from Jala Drusyam ( the temporaty party office near Hussain Sagar) to Jana Drusyam (the massive turnout of the people at the plenary). He reiterated the resolve to achieve the Golden Telangana.
