High-power panel to decide on Polavaram tenders

A high power committee constituted to study the controversial tenders of Polavaram project continued its meeting on the third consecutive day on Friday.

The committee was studying thoroughly on dispute over finalisation of tenders.

 It is alleged that Transstroy (India) Ltd UIN, which was awarded as L-1 in the finalisation of tenders was not competent enough to get the bid. There were allegations against its major stake holder company UIN. A committee of officials which went to Russia to know the facts about the company is alleged to be managed by the company management.

In a bid to find out the facts in the whole charges, the Govt appointed the high-power committee and asked to give a fact-finding report. The committee is expected to give its decision on Friday whether to continue the tender or to call for fresh tenders abolishing the L-1 company.
