Hefty pay hike for AP MLAs and MLCs

Hyderabad: A petition that paves way for a hefty pay hike for AP MLAs and MLCs is being presented in the Andhra Pradesh assembly. The proposal seeks to their hike salaries from the existing Rs. 95 thousand to Rs. 1.5 lakh per month and increase their HRA from Rs.25,000 to Rs. 50,000 per month.

The pension amount is also proposed to be hiked from Rs.25,000 to Rs.50,000 per month. Railway and book allowances are earmarked at Rs1 lakh each, while vehicle loan advance is hiked from Rs.10 lakh to Rs.20 lakh for each public representative.

The additional burden that this wage hike will bring upon the government is sure to raise eyebrows.
