Heavy Inflows Cause Floods to Musi

Hyderabad:  Due to the torrential rains for last four days, Musi project in Nalgonda district has got heavy inflows, forcing the irrigation officials to open eight flood gates to release the water downstream.

Currenly, river Musi is in spate with copious inflows from upstream. The motorists at Peddaraopally in Nalgonda district have been facing problems as many bridges across the river including Bhattugdem-Peddaraopally in the district have been inundated. At many places, the flood water submerged the roadways. Transportation to the Pochampally village has been blocked due to the floods.

The dam AE Ramesh said the river was getting an inflow of 33,000 Cusec at Kethupally. The water level of the Musi dam currently stands at 644 feet.
