HC directive to SEC on Nellore ZP chief election - Sakshi Post

High court gave a key directive to State Election Commission on Thursday. It asked the commission to appoint a special observer to oversee the election process of ZP chairperson of Nellore district.

In its directive, the court asked the commission to take steps for the conduct of the election in a peaceful and impartial manner.

The elections for the posts of chairpersons of various Zilla Parishads in Andhra Pradesh were to take place on July 5. However, on that day, Venkatagiri MLA and TDP leader K.Ramakrishna created a ruckus and even bloke the mike of district collector N.Srikanth . As a result, the officials had postponed the election.

Advocate Sudhakar Reddy filed a petition in the high court asking it to appoint a special observer to oversee the election process.
