Under what law the ‘genuine’ Gau Rakshaks will stop the ‘Feku’ Gau Rakshaks? questioned Digvijaya Singh

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Monday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was indulging in “drama” when he spoke about atrocities on Dalits and asked if he would take action against his own ministers who spoke against Dalit students.

“Has PM authorised the ‘genuine’ Gau Rakshaks to act directly? Under what law the ‘genuine’ Gau Rakshaks will stop the ‘Feku’ Gau Rakshaks?” he asked.

Modi on Sunday called for protecting Dalits and for isolating and punishing fake “gau rakshaks” (cow protectors), saying they were destroying the country.

His remarks were in reference to the flogging of Dalits by cow vigilantes in Gujarat’s Una town on July 11, which has evoked widespread condemnation.
