Girl dies after falling from 16th floor

Hyderabad: A 19 year-old girl died under suspicious circumstances after she fell off an upscale multi-storeyed building in Hafeezpet under Madhapur police station limits on Wednesday morning.

Sub Inspector M Srinivasulu said Mohan Krisnam Raju, who works at Vizag port, lives with his family in Flat No.1606 on 16th floor of Polaris Block of Meenashi Skylounge Apartment at Khanamet in Hafeezpet. He recently hired a housemaid Vennela (19), who belongs to Gunupudi village of West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, as a house help for a function that was planned for the following month.

On Wednesday morning, the girl fell to her death from the 16th floor of the apartment. The security guard on duty at the apartment is said to have heard a loud thud; he rushed to the spot immediately but could do nothing as the fall was fatal for the girl.

It is not yet known whether the girl fell down accidentally or someone pushed her off the apartment or a case of suicide. Madhapaur police have registered a case and are investigating all angles. They have sent the body to Osmania Hospital for postmortem.
